Five Towns College at Great South Bay Music Festival

by Imani Jenkins

The Great South Bay Music Festival at Shorefront Park in Patchogue is back and Five Towns College students and staff will once again be there this year. WFTU Radio and Mass Comm students will be live broadcasting some of the bands, the FTC Admissions department will be giving out information about the college, and the Audio department will be assisting with the live broadcast.

Today was a setup day for the festival, which will be held from Thursday July 18th through Sunday July 21st, showcasing all of your favorite bands.

Getting the FTC Tent ready at the Great South Bay Festival

The WFTU Radio tent will be stationed by the Clam Shell Band Shell, where you can catch on-air personalities interviewing band members as well as people on their experiences at the festival.

FTC Audio student Kiara Ortega who is a performer in the band, Re’Sounding, says, “It will be a memory for me to hear the legendary bands and a crazy experience to enjoy.”

GSB Festival preparation

While attending the Great South Bay Music Festival, not only will you enjoy great music but also encounter vendors who will be selling tea, food, and other products to make your week enjoyable.

GSB Main Stage

There are three stages at the Great South Bay Music Festival: the main stage, the Clamshell Bandshell, and the Jambalaya Stage, which is on the other side of the field.

Some of the performers during the four-day festival are Taking Back Sunday, America, War, and much more. To see if your favorite artist will be performing at the Great South Bay Music Festival, go to their website for more information:

Great South Bay

Though this weekend's temperatures will be hot, the beautiful bay is nearby to bring a breeze to the festival. In addition, festival organizers are letting people bring in one sealed, unopened bottle of water or one unsealed empty water bottle that can be filled at water fountains.

The Kidzone

Children are able to enjoy themselves on the playground in the Kidzone section of the field, where there is also small performance stage. #SupportTheKids

Murals from past festivals line the fence.

Calling all artists! If you are a painter who wants to show your skills, you are in luck because the festival has a section where you can paint murals. On the fences of the field, you can see murals from past festivals. Everyone is allowed to paint and be a part of the wonderful activities.

Don’t forget to get your tickets, bring a friend and stop by the FTC tent.
